Flocksholm Design, a full-service graphic design studio, opened its doors in Cambridge, Massachusetts during the summer of 1989. Now located in southern Vermont, it offers graphic design solutions from concept and design through to the printed product. Flocksholm Design provides project management — a big part of the process — including print estimates, print checks, approvals, and the overseeing of the entire project.
What’s in a name? My grandfather, J.V.R. Shepherd, had a good sense of humor. He named his house “Flocks” after his flock of sheep (he had 4 children), combined with the old English word for home, “holm.” This sign, painted by Arthur Oakman of Needham, Massachusetts, hung at the Shepherd farm in Hopkinton Massachusetts from 1938 until 1976.
