Project:
World Learning of Brattleboro, VT, approached me to redesign their annual magazine that showcases a yearly theme as well as featuring the School of International Training alumni news.
Design Solution:
The teamwork on this project was really fun. I worked closely with the Art Director, Editorial Director and Vice President of Communications at World Learning. Everyone left their egos at home so that we could re-evaluate what was done in the past decide if it worked and try new things. I presented new design ideas and we went back and forth fine-tuning until we had the final product.T O P Project:
The Womens Bar Association of Massachusetts is one of my on-going clients. This Calendar is their monthly publication that informs their members about upcoming meetings and announcements.
Design Solution:
This is a simple 2-color 4-page newsletter. Like all publications, there are certain items that must be included in each issue, like board of directors list, committee chairs, contact information, etc. They are set up in a consistent manner, using a graduated screen to increase the look of color on the page.T O P Project:
Side Bar is the quarterly publication of the Womens Bar Association of Massachusetts. It goes out to the same mailing list as the previously shown monthly newsletter so it needs to have a related look.
Design Solution:
I used the same corporate blue color and typography as the monthly newsletter. The name is a play on law jargon as well as publishing jargon. I turned it sideways for visual interest not to be so literal!T O P Project:
The Womens Bar Foundation is the charitable sister organization to the WBA.
Design Solution:
Using their corporate color, purple, I developed a name plate for Good Work! using screens of the purple. Using screens is one way to make a 2-color project look more colorful.T O P Project:
When a client changed jobs he asked me to work with him on a new project updating the Brattleboro Care Community Land Trust newsletter. They needed a new name plate, type treatment the works.
Design Solution:
I used their recognizable logo in the nameplate area. Using only two colors, screens, boxes and photos, I built a newsletter that has lots of punch but a classy look.T O P Project:
After working a year doing book composition for NK Graphics in Keene, NH, I started doing book production for DC Designs in Brattleboro. I did the pre-press production and compostion for this book.
Design & Production Award:
1999 Vermont Book of the Year nomination by the Vermont Book Professionals Association for design and production of Hammer. Nail. Wood., Chelsea Green publisher.T O P
